Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has once again emphasized the need to reduce India’s dependence on conventional petrol and diesel vehicles. Highlighting the government’s push toward cleaner and more sustainable mobility solutions, Gadkari stated that the future of the Indian automobile industry lies in alternative fuels and green transportation technologies. The minister revealed that several leading automakers, including Maruti Suzuki, MG Motor, and Toyota, are preparing to introduce new vehicles powered by alternative fuel technologies. These upcoming models are expected to run on options such as ethanol blends, hybrid systems, compressed natural gas (CNG), biofuels, and hydrogen-based technologies.
According to Gadkari, adopting alternative fuels will not only help reduce pollution levels but also lower fuel import bills and strengthen India’s energy security. The government has been encouraging automobile manufacturers to invest in innovative technologies that can provide cleaner and more affordable transportation solutions for consumers. Industry experts believe the move could accelerate India’s transition toward environmentally friendly mobility. With rising fuel prices and growing awareness about sustainability, demand for vehicles powered by alternative energy sources has been steadily increasing.
